Leek traders have been invited to hire out several market gazebos that will be available for the Christmas lights switch on later this month.

The switch on is taking place on 19th November and is one of the most popular events of the year in Leek.

Now the town council has asked traders to get in touch if they wish to use one of the gazebos, which will be at Market Place.

A spokesperson for Leek Town Council said: "A number of market stall gazebos are being planned for the Xmas lights 'switch-on' event on Friday 19th November. They will be located in the Market place together with a music stage and small scale fair ground rides for young children.

"Other attractions for the event will be the main fairground rides located in the High Street and the Moorlands Radio stage on Sparrow park at the bottom of Derby Street.

"Traders and Community Groups that wish to participate are invited to contact Leek Town Council to hire one of the market stall gazebos. These will be positioned around the ornamental lamp standard in the market place. To apply use the LTC website 'Contact Us' tab."

Leek Nub News reported previously how Leek's Christmas lights switch on will be a smaller event than usual this year due to rising Covid cases, meaning there will be no parade.

People have also been asked to take a lateral flow test before the event and wear a mask in crowded areas.
