Leek Town FC has already smashed its initial fundraising target for its teams sponsored walk later this month.
In memory of Leek Town official James Lockett, current and past players will be walking from the Bet365 Stadium, home of Stoke City FC, to the Leek Town's ground at Harrison Park at the end of May.
All of the money raised will be donated to a charity chosen by James's family.
The club set itself an initial target of raising £500 from the walk, but only one day after beginning to raise money, that target has already been surpassed.
According to the fundraiser's page on JustGiving, £620 has already been raised, surpassing the initial target by £120.
Following this success the club has now set an even more ambitious target of £1,000.
A spokesperson for the club said: "To honour & remember our friend & Leek Town Official, James Lockett, the club's players (past and present) will be walking from the home of Stoke City FC to the home Leek Town FC on Saturday 29 May.
"All funds raised will be donated to a charity or good cause chosen by the family of James.
"We've smashed the initial target already, so we've doubled it to £1000! - thank you all so much. Please share and keep giving."
