Leek's Mayor has thanked the town council's clerk for her commitment to the role ahead of her retirement later this month.
Leek Town Council clerk Julie Taylor will be retiring at the end of the month after 18 years in the role.
Now Leek's Mayor, Cllr Lyn Swindlehurst, has thanked Julie for her help during her year as mayor as well as over her previous years as clerk.
Cllr Swindlehurst said: "My time as Mayor so far has been greatly enhanced by the support of our Town Clerk, Julie Taylor. Julie, who will be taking early retirement in late February, will be greatly missed by myself and the Town Councillors, several of whom have worked with Julie in a Mayoral capacity.
"The role of Town Clerk is vital within the Town Council to ensure its statutory obligations are fulfilled and that it works effectively.
"The role is multifaceted, from allotment management, to floral displays and the safe and appropriate management of events with the Town Council team.
"Julie's role has changed dramatically over the 18 years she has been in Leek, becoming more complex and diverse leading to the employment of an assistant, Lauren McCue, late last year. She and Julie have formed a happy, effective and efficient partnership.
"Julie has been an asset to Leek Town Council and has forged many friendships and alliances, (I hope she leaves her long list!).
"Personally Julie has made my role as Mayor this year a pleasure. She has organised me, supported me, given sound advice and been a friend as well as a colleague. I will truly miss you Julie as I know others will.
"Be proud of the work you have done, the person you are, and the differences you have made."
