Leek Rugby Club has asked for local residents' help when it comes to catching dog owners who cannot be bothered to clean up after their pets.

The local club has asked residents to help find any dog owners who don't pick up after their dogs when walking them around the club's pitches and training areas.

The problem is now getting so bad, the club says, that they may have to consider banning people from walking their dogs on their pitches if it continues.

The issue has persisted despite the club putting up several signs and banners to discourage dog fouling.

As can be seen in the image above, in one case dog mess was left right next to one of these banners.

A spokesperson for the rugby club said: "Leek Rugby Football Club wish to ask the help of the residents of Cheddleton to find the irresponsible dog owners who continue to let their pets foul the pitches and training areas.

"Despite erecting signs and banners asking owners to take there pet waste away with them, we continue to have dog muck on our pitches - as you can see from today's photo, right in front of an 8ft banner.

"If this continues dogs will be banned from all our pitches. Please help us so we do not have to take such drastic action."
