Leek residents enter second week of bin collection disruptions

Residents in the Staffordshire Moorlands are entering a second week of disruption with kerbside bin collections.

The council has vowed to catch up, and has outlined its plans to get on top of the issue.

Last week saw a bungled attempt to return to areas which had missed collections, with the wrong information being posted on the district council's website.

That led to the council scrabbling to re-arrange its re-scheduled collections.

A spokesperson said at the time: "Waste collections are currently affected by circumstances out of our control and we'd like to thank residents for your support and patience during these challenging times."

This week, staff will be returning to areas which were due to have a recycling collection on 3rd, 4th and 6th January.

An update on the council's website on Monday (10th January) stated: "If your recycling was due to be collected on the 3rd, 4th and 6th of January please continue to leave your bins out for collection.

"We will be returning to collect these bins on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Any extra recycling presented in open bags next to the bin will be taken."

The council said outstanding van collections are still ongoing, but these should be completed by the end of this week.

Cliffe Farm and Back Forest Farm in Swythamley have not had blue bags collected, while collections weren't completed on Chapel Lane in Brown Edge due to parked cars obstructing the pick-up.

The council said on Friday (7th January) its teams had completed all outstanding blue-lidded bin collections.

It will address outstanding grey bins collections this week – including those in:
