Plenty of residents including Leek Town Mayor, Cllr Lyn Swindlehurst attended the launch event for the Leek Blues and American festival on Sunday 25th of July.

Although thunderstorms had been predicted they did not materialise and Lyn, accompanied by husband Cllr Matt Swindlehurst enjoyed some wonderful outdoor music in the garden of the Foxlowe Centre.

Commenting on the event, Lyn said that being able to watch musicians perform live after so long in lockdown was both heartwarming and truly welcome.

She said: "The event was impeccably planned and managed by the organising team, with the Foxlowe, as always, doing everyone proud with their service, food and drinks, including a custom made, very blue, cocktail!"

She added: "The charity chosen by the festival this year is Approach Dementia Support, a local organisation well worth the support of those who attend future events."

"Live music and creativity runs through the veins of Leek, it's at its heart. As always we want to share it with everyone and enjoy it together.

"Look out for future details of The Leek Blues and Americana Festival and support it where you can, you won't be disappointed!"
