A diver who died after going missing off the Cornish coast has been named.

Ben Snape, 39, from Leek, was first reported missing from the Roseland Peninsula area at approximately 1pm on 17 June after he had failed to resurface after diving near a wreck off Pendennis Point in Falmouth.

The coastguard, Royal Navy and the RNLI all took part in the search.

Police divers recovered the body off the Falmouth coast last Thursday.

Cornwall Coroner's Office have been notified of the death of Mr Snape on June 24 and an inquest will be opened in due course.

The family of the 39-year-old man, from Staffordshire, have been informed, but formal identification is yet to take place.
