Leek Indian restaurant receives planning permission to extend dining area

By Jack Lenton 20th Apr 2021

A popular Indian restaurant in Leek has received planning permission to extend its dining area and welcome even more customers through its doors.

Pabna restaurant on Ashbourne Road applied to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council for permission to construct an extension to their dining area.

The restaurant has been operating in Leek since 1997, and are now aiming to expand due to their success.

A design and access statement prepared on behalf of the application reads: "Due to its success it is fully booked most weekends and Friday nights and is now in a position where they need to expand in order to cater for the demands of their clients.

"The proposed additional dining area will provide a private area that can be booked separately for special functions."

The plans were approved by the district council's planning officers this week.

The officers' decision report explains why the application was approved.

It reads: "The proposal would not harm the visual or residential amenities of the area with the safeguard of planning conditions to ensure that noise abatement measures and suitable machinery is applied to the extensions.

"The expansion of the premises would not lead to any significant further exacerbation of parking problems in the area and is therefore not detrimental to highway safety.

"The proposal would therefore comply with the Council's adopted Local Plan and the government planning guidance."
