Leek GPs have urged residents not to call to ask about their plans for the rollout of booster Covid jabs in the town.
GPs say that so far they have no details on the plan when it comes to local booster jabs, but added that they will share the details as soon as they are available.
Park Medical Centre, on Ball Haye Road in Leek, said they need to keep the phone lines open for urgent medical issues, adding that so far they only know as much as residents when it comes to the booster jabs plan.
A spokesperson for the centre said: "A plea to everyone, on behalf of your GP practice.
"GPs don't yet know what the plan is for the next three weeks.
"We found out about the new booster targets the same way you did.
"Please don't call your GP surgery to find out. We must keep lines open to prioritise urgent same day medical issues only.
"We need more information to understand the plan before we know how we can try to help. So far - there are no details.
"We will tell you the local plan as soon as we can. Please watch your practice's website or Facebook page for updates."
It has been reported nationally today that long queues are forming around walk-in centres and the NHS site has crashed several times as people attempt to get their boosters before Christmas.
Today was the first day that over 30s can book the jab, while over 18s will be allowed to do so later this week.
The NHS said on Twitter this morning: "The COVID vaccine booking service is currently facing extremely high demand so is operating a queueing system.
"For users aged 18-29, please be aware that booking opens on Wednesday 15 Dec.
"For all others experiencing waits, we would advise trying again later today or tomorrow."
