Leek County Council elections: The results are in!

As voters went to the polls yesterday and the count got underway today, Leek now knows who its county councillors are going to be for the next term.

And its no change for the town, with each party retaining their share of the two Leek seats.

In Leek rural the Conservatives were able to keep their seat with a win by Gill Heath, while Labour held onto their seat in Leek South as Charlotte Atkins received the most votes.

Labour candidate Matt Swindlehurst came second in Leek Rural, followed by Independent candidate Linda Malyon in third and Green Party candidate Jonathan Kempster in fourth.

And in Leek South, Conservative candidate Joanne Cox received second place while Liberal Democrat candidate Roy Gregg finished third.

The results in full are below:

Leek Rural

- Gill Heath, Conservative - 2,291 votes

- Matt Swindlehurst, Labour - 875 votes

- Linda Malyon, Independent - 533 votes

- Jonathan Kempster, Green Party - 330 votes

Leek South

- Charlotte Atkins, Labour - 2,132 votes

- Joanne Cox, Conservative - 1,413 votes

- Roy Gregg, Liberal Democrats - 172 votes
