Karen Bradley: 'Volunteer celebration event will be great opportunity to meet community groups'
Karen Bradley: In this week's column the Moorlands MP has discussed her upcoming community volunteer celebration event in the Moorlands. Read what she had to say below...
We have a wealth of community organisations here in the Moorlands and many volunteers who work tirelessly, giving up their time to help others.
It is therefore a pleasure to announce my Community Volunteers Celebration event that I am holding in association with the Werrington Community Volunteers Group which will take place in the Churnet Room at Moorlands House in Leek on Saturday 12th November from 10 – 12.30.
I have been involved with the Werrington Volunteers for many years and have seen them go from strength to strength and therefore, following a chat with Cllr David Shaw at my Pensioners' Fair, decided that it would be a fantastic idea to hold a celebration event for the many groups in the Moorlands, so that they can network and find out what others are doing and to promote volunteering.
I am delighted to have the support of SMDC who have kindly provided the venue, Support Staffordshire, Sporting Communities and We Love the Moorlands just to mention a few.
Community organisations with volunteers in the Moorlands are invited to sign up to have a stand at the event. So far it has proved very popular. Stands are free of charge and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis so please email [email protected] as soon as possible.
There will be some presentations during the event and also the possibility for organisations to enter for an award. Details of the entry process will be provided to organisations that have signed up nearer the date.
It is also a great opportunity for local people to come along and meet some of our fantastic community groups who are always looking for more volunteers so please make a note of the date in your diary and pop into Moorlands House on 12th November.
