It's less than a week until Christmas and as people get ready to do their big Christmas shop it's worth knowing when our major supermarkets in Leek will be open over the next few days.

The supermarkets in the town will have slightly different opening times over the Christmas period - here is everything you need to know.

Aldi Between Monday December 20th (today) and Thursday December 23rd Aldi plans to keep its stores open from 7am until 10pm. On Christmas Eve however, Aldi supermarkets will still open at 7am but close at the earlier time of 6pm. The supermarket will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and then between 27th December and 30th December the opening times will be 8am - 8pm. On New Year's Eve, stores are set to be open between 8am and 6pm, and stores will again be closed on New Year's Day.

Asda

Asda says its stores will be shut on Christmas Day itself, but they will be open on Christmas Eve until 7pm.

Unlike many supermarkets which are planning to close on Boxing Day, Asda says its stores will be open between 10am and 4pm on Boxing Day.

Asda supermarkets will remain open throughout New Year, though will operate reduced hours on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Stores will be open between 6am and 7pm on New Year's Eve and between 10am and 5pm on New Year's Day.

Sainsbury's Sainsbury's says all of its supermarkets will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. However, they will be open on Christmas Eve between 6am and 7pm. Sainsbury's will also be open on New Year's Eve, between 7am and 7pm, and on New Year's Day, between 8am and 8pm.

Morrisons

Morrisons say they will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day this year.

Stores will be open between 6am and 6pm on Christmas Eve, and then they will reopen after Christmas on Monday December 27 between 7am and 10pm.

The supermarket will also be open over New Year, with stores open between 7am and 6pm on December 31st and between 9am and 6pm on January 1st.

Lidl Lidl will close its doors on Christmas Day. For last-minute items, shoppers can access Lidl stores on Christmas Eve between 7am and 6pm. Lidl will then reopen on Boxing Day between 10am and 5pm. The discount supermarket will be open between 8am and 7pm on New Year's Eve and then close for New Year's Day.
