Five men have been arrested after drugs warrants were executed in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

This morning (Thursday 1 December) warrants were carried out simultaneously in various areas of Leek, including Springfield Road, Carlton Terrace, Beatty Road, Shirburn Road and Chorley Street.

Officers seized a significant amount of suspected Class A drugs, mobile phones, cash and items of clothing. They also seized a vehicle, an imitation firearm, and made five arrests.

Three men, aged 35, 33 and 20, all from Leek, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

A 69-year-old man, from Leek, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A.

A 22-year-old man, from Leek, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to possess with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class B.

They all remain in custody at this time.

Inspector Darren McGrath, deputy commander of Staffordshire Moorlands Local Policing Team, said: "The fight to crack down on drug supply never stops and today's day of action is an example of the work we are doing across the Staffordshire Moorlands to keep the public safe and disrupt criminals.

"Drug dealing causes significant harm across our communities and these arrests, along with the items seized, are a positive result.

"We can only do this with the support and information that we get from residents so I would urge anyone with information about drug dealing or crime in their community to contact us by calling 101, sending a message on social media or completing an online form.

"I will be in Leek town centre, alongside other local officers, between 10am and 3pm on Wednesday (7th December) to discuss any concerns and talk to residents about the work being carried out in the area, so please come along if you would like to speak to us."
