Fire crews called to Cheddleton after bins torched in early hours

Fire crews attended Cheddleton after plastic bins were deliberately set alight in the early hours of the morning.

Firefighters were called to playing fields near Grange Road, Cheddleton, just after 2.45am on Sunday (7 August) following reports of bins on fire.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "A crew from Leek attended as did Staffordshire Police.

"On arrival, the crew found two plastic bins on fire.

"Two back packs were used to extinguish the fire.

"The cause of the fire has since been deemed to be deliberate.

"The crew left the scene at 3.20am.

"The incident has been left with Staffordshire Police."
