Police seized a vehicle belonging to an uninsured and unlicensed driver, and arrested another motorist for drug driving during a day of action in Leek.

Both took place yesterday evening (Thursday, 17th June) as Staffordshire Police's Moorlands team dealt with the two incidents in the town.

The drug driving arrest took place on Burton Street after the driver tested positive for drugs at the roadside.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police's Moorlands team reminded residents that drug driving is one of the "fatal four" - which includes using a mobile phone while driving, speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, and drink or drug driving.

They said: "A driver has been arrested by the Road Crime Team on Burton St, Leek this evening and is currently in custody.

"The driver provided a positive roadside drug test.

"Drug drive is one of the Fatal Four."

On the separate incident which involved an unlicensed driver and uninsured vehicle, a spokesperson for Staffordshire Police's Moorlands team said: "A vehicle seized this evening in Leek for having no insurance and the driver dealt with for not having a licence."
