Details confirmed for Leek's Remembrance Day commemorations
Details have been confirmed for this year's Remembrance Day commemorations in Leek.
The commemorations will take place on Remembrance Sunday (14th November) which is the first Sunday after Remembrance Day on November 11th.
The traditional parade from the church to the Nicholson War Memorial will take place, organised by Leek Town Council working with the Leek branch of the Royal British Legion.
There will also be an afternoon event with a service and the laying of wreaths.
Leek town Cllr Matt Swindlehurst discussed the details of the day.
He said: "Plans are coming along for Remembrance Sunday.
"Road closures and marshalling will be in the capable hands of Roy Molson, and Ben Benefer and Michael Ottewell will be managing the wreath laying at the morning event at the Nicholson War Memorial.
"We plan on having the traditional parade from the church to the memorial.
"The event is organised by Leek Town Council. but we work closely with the Leek Branch of The Royal British Legion and SMDC who are helping fund the event.
"Grateful thanks as well to AH Brooks Solicitors for funding the order of service, and to Leek United Building Society for their generous donation towards the hospitality.
"There will be an equally important afternoon event, where we meet at The Priory on Abbots Road at 2pm, and then parade down to the Ball Haye Green Memorial for a service and wreath laying.
"If you want to come along on the day we would encourage you to take a lateral flow test in the 24 hours leading up to the day. Remember to take up offers of vaccination."
