A man is raising money for new equipment at his daughter's special school by running the length of the UK.
Mitch Hulme is currently running the famous John O'Groats to Lands End route which will see him travel from Cornwall to the very north of Scotland in order to raise money for Horton Lodge Community special school in Leek, which his daughter attends.
The route will see him run an astonishing distance of over 800 miles, and he is currently 10 days into the challenge.
Mitch explained that he was inspired to take on the fundraising challenge when he heard that Horton Lodge needed £150,000 to buy some new equipment for their playground.
He said: "I heard that Horton lodge were looking to raise money for a new playground, so as my daughter goes to the school, I thought I would give them a call and see if I could come and have a look.
"I thought it might just be a case of cleaning the equipment to make it look new again, but this isn't the case - there are signs on every bit of equipment saying 'Caution: Do Not Use'.
"This broke my heart. Please help me raise the £150,000 for the new playground so these amazing kids can play, enjoy themselves and be happy."
Mitch's daughter Dolly suffers from cerebral palsy, and Mitch is no stranger to taking on gruelling fundraising runs, having previously run 54 miles from his home to Birmingham to raise money for a wheelchair for Dolly.
If his latest challenge wasn't tough enough, Mitch also suffered a broken spine just six months ago when he was hit by a lorry, but he has since recovered and is now fighting fit.
He also temporarily gave up his work as a valeter so he could put one hundred percent of his effort into training.
Mitch is tracking the progress of his run on his Facebook page, and he is currently just south of Shrewsbury, having run an amazing 300 miles so far. Only 574 to go!
