Covid update: what are Leek's infection rates looking like this week?
Coronavirus cases in Leek seem to be falling, with five cases recorded in the town in the week leading up to July 1.
This marks a decrease of 10 on the previous week, making for a rolling infection rate of 60.5 per 100,000.
This downward trend was echoed in Leek East & Upper Hulme, where 17 cases were recorded in that week, a reduction of two on the preceding seven day period.
The infection rate for this area currently stands at 223 per 100,000 people.
Meanwhile, in Leek South & Cheddleton, 19 people tested positive for Covid-19, 12 more than in the week before, resulting in a rate of 173 per 100,000.
In Staffordshire Moorlands, last week saw new case numbers double to 213, resulting in a rate of 216 per 100,000.
The good news is that a huge 91 per cent of Leek South & Cheddleton's adult population had received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as of 5 July, with 70 per cent having had both doses.
Leek Town and Leek East & Upper Hulme are just behind this figure, with 85 and 86 per cent of adult residents having been for their first vaccine.
