Officers from Staffordshire Police have called off the search for a missing person with links to Leek, after a body was found in their investigation.

Leek Nub News reported how Edward Porter, aged 61, was last seen on Thursday 3 March in Stoke-on-Trent.

He was seen just after 7.45pm on Thursday 3 March walking down Harpfield Road in the direction of the A34, and police said he had links to Leek.

Sadly, the body of a man, believed to be Edward, was found in an area off Rose Tree Avenue in Trent Vale yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 15th March).

Formal identification will take place in due course.

Detectives do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances and a report will be prepared for HM Coroner.
