71-year-old man charged with drink driving after crash outside Leek Morrisons

A 71-year-old man is due in court after a crash outside Leek's branch of Morrisons earlier this week.
The collision took place on the roundabout near the supermarket on Newcastle Road on Monday (May 17th).
The collision involved a white Ford Transit van and a red Vauxhall Corsa, and Thomas West, a 71-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
West, who is from Somerset Road, Hanley, has now been charged with driving motor vehicle when alcohol level is above the legal limit, and is due to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on 1 June.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police told Nub News: "We were called at 3.30pm on (Monday 17 May) to reports of a road traffic collision on Newcastle Road, Leek.
"The collision involved a white Ford Transit van and a red Vauxhall Corsa.
"A 71-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving at the scene.
"Thomas West, 71, of Somerset Road, Hanley, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level is above the limit.
"He is due to appear before magistrates at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on 1 June."
