"You will be missed" - This Leek hardware store has announced its closure

Customers to a popular Leek hardware store have reacted with sadness at the announcement that the store will soon be closing.

Gee's Ironmongers, which is based on Haywood Street in Leek, announced yesterday (Tuesday, 27th July) that they will be closing for good next month.

The store, which sells all kinds of hardware including kitchen utensils, electrical goods, gardening equipment, and car parts, is due to close at the end of August.

A spokesperson for the store said: "It's with great sadness that we announce the closure of Gee's Ironmongers from the end of August.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for their support over the past 13 years, especially through the Coronavirus pandemic."

A social media post announcing the store's closure has since received 30 comments of support from local residents and customers, explaining how much the store will be missed in Leek.

One said: "Sad to hear this, you've always provided exceptional and friendly service whenever I've been in. Good luck with whatever you're planning to do next."

Another added: "Really sorry to hear this. Whenever I needed stuff for the house or garden, my first thought was: try Gees first! Great shop and great service. You will be missed."

While a third added: "So sorry to hear, such great service and competitive prices. We always went to you before going anywhere else. We'll miss you. Good luck in your new adventures."
