Leek pub's warning over fake Irish banknotes being used around town

A staff member at a Leek pub has warned residents over a spate of attempts to use fake Northern Irish £20 notes in shops and pubs around the town.
Medge Brindley, who works at The Black Swan, which is based at the Sheep Market in Leek, posted the above images of one of the fake notes which had been used to try to pay with in the pub.
She explained why she suspected that the notes were fake, saying: "Considering it was on usual printer paper, the ink had ran and there was no hologram or watermark it was a no-brainer."
Since the warning was posted, residents have commented to say that they have also seen the notes being used recently in several other shops around the town.
Residents have reported attempts to use the notes in Lidl, The Valiant and also in local charity shops.
