Leek Christmas lights switch on brought forward to November

5th Oct 2021 | Local News

One of the biggest events in the Leek calendar will be taking place a little earlier than expected this year, with the town's Christmas lights switch on being brought forward.

The town will be bathed in Christmas light once again after the lights switched on on Friday, November 19th - earlier than the expected date two weeks later of Friday, December 3rd.

Like so many events around the country, Leek's Christmas lights switch on was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid restrictions, so it's great to see that it will be back to its illuminating best this year.

The switch on will take place at its usual location of Derby Street and big crowds are expected to turn out to watch the event.

There is also expected to be a fair and a sound and light show - but more details will be released nearer to the day of the event.
