In the seven days up to 7 April, there were fewer than three coronavirus cases recorded in Leek Town, Leek South & Cheddleton and Leek East & Upper Hulme put together.

The town's rolling Covid rate was therefore too low to quantify. Meanwhile, with 16 new cases in the whole district, the average rate for Staffordshire Moorlands was 16.3 per 100,000 people, a reduction of 60 per cent on the week before.

In the past week, there have been no Covid-related deaths recorded in Staffordshire Moorlands hospitals.

By April 8, 140,938 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine had been administered by North Staffordshire NHS Clinical Commissioning Group, including 91 per cent of 50-54-year-olds.
