Breaking: Leek fire crews tackling blaze on Roaches moorland

A fire crew from Leek is part of the force currently deployed to tackle a blaze on an area of moorland near to the Roaches.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said this afternoon (Tuesday) that crews are currently at the scene of the fire.

A total of four crews are at the scene, and are tackling the blaze which is currently around 30 metres by 50 metres across.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We are currently at the scene of a fire on Buxton Road, Ramshaw, near to the Roaches.

"Crews from Leek, Longton, Hanley and Cheadle are at the scene and are using a hose reel jet, a main jet and beaters to tackle the 30m by 50m fire."
