Leek fire crew tackles blaze after tractor catches fire in barn

Residents were urged to close their windows and doors while fire crews dampened down at the scene of a barn fire near Leek. 

Firefighters were called at 7.18pm on Thursday (30 June) to Apesford Lane in Bradnop, near Leek, following reports of a tractor in a shed on fire.

Crews from Leek, Ipstones, Longton, Cheadle attended the scene.

Upon arrival, crews found a large barn, measuring 30m by 30m, containing two tractors and a large amount of hay, involved in a fire.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

No one was reported injured.

Crews revisited the scene today (Friday 1 July) and are currently dampening down any hot spots. 

People living in the local area are being urged to keep their windows and doors closed while this work takes place.
